5-month-old wake windows
Five months often sits between a four-nap and three-nap rhythm. Some days still need a short late nap.
| Part of day | Starting range |
|---|---|
| First wake window | 1h30–2h |
| Later wake windows | 1h40–2h30 |
| Likely rhythm | 3–4 naps |
Three naps or four?
A three-nap day may fit when earlier naps are longer. A fourth nap may still be useful after short naps or an early morning start. The number of naps is an outcome of the day, not a target that must be forced.
Suggested nap length
Main naps may fall roughly in the 45–90 minute range, while a late bridging nap is often shorter. Natural variation is normal.
Signs the day needs another nap
- Bedtime would otherwise require an unusually long final wake window.
- Earlier naps were short.
- Your baby is clearly struggling well before bedtime.
