4-month-old wake windows
At four months, many babies still need several naps and relatively short periods awake. Day-to-day variation can be substantial.
| Part of day | Starting range |
|---|---|
| First wake window | 1h15–1h40 |
| Middle wake windows | 1h20–1h50 |
| Final wake window | 1h45–2h15 |
| Likely rhythm | 3–4 naps |
What a four-nap day can look like
Four naps are still common because individual naps may be short and wake windows are not yet long enough to comfortably span the full day with fewer sleeps. A late nap may be brief and simply help bridge the gap to bedtime.
How long might naps be?
At this age, nap length can vary widely. One nap may last 30 minutes while another extends beyond an hour. Use the calculator’s suggested range as guidance, not a requirement to wake a sleeping baby.
A single short nap does not automatically mean the whole schedule is wrong. Look at settling, mood and the rest of the day.
